How does referral work?

Please contact your primary care vet to discuss referral if your pet needs to see a cardiologist.

We can make arrangements to see your pet after your vet has been in touch with us to arrange a referral. Once your vet has contacted HHVC, we will schedule a date to visit your clinic. HHVC will create a treatment plan and work with your primary vet to ensure the highest quality care for your pet.

Why would my pet need to see a cardiologist?

  • If your pet has been diagnosed with a heart murmur

  • Congenital heart disease - some patients are born with structural abnormalities of the heart

  • Heart failure - common signs include difficulty breathing, exercise intolerance, coughing, & fluid accumulation in the abdomen

  • Detection of abnormal heart rhythms

  • Investigation of collapse

  • Pre-anesthetic evaluation

  • Breed-related conditions
